As much as we all would like to promote learning for learning’s sake, the fact is that you are going to be tested, you are going to be judged on your performance and your ability to achieve your goals will depend on how well you do.
Grades, ugh. They don’t define who you are but they can prove to be critical in determining your path.
Achieve is often brought in during a time of crisis: a falling grade, a huge assignment, an important final. Our tutors will help get you get that grade up and beat the final but not without targeting a greater goal.
Even while preparing for a flash point, in any subject area, at any time of year, we work with you to build the critical thinking skills that are essential for creating a strategic approach to learning that will help avoid crises in the future.
For over twenty years Achieve has guided students to success in every academic subject. From Kafka to Calculus; Algebra to AP European History; Honors French to AP Physics, we have experts that not only understand the material, they know how to package it in a way that makes the material accessible to all kinds of learners.

Excelling in school week after week is challenging. Continued success requires a clear understanding of the subject matter, but it also demands engaging academically in a way that most high school students have never learned.
We can help.
We are subject matter experts with many years of experience, and we know how to tailor our tutorials to get the best out of every student.
We help students make deeper connections with their courses so increased academic engagement is interesting and rewarding.
We teach our students how to play the game with each teacher in each class so they can excel and grow academically and personally.
We know LA area schools inside and out, and often know exactly what your individual teachers expect from you on homework, quizzes, tests and projects.
We understand these challenges, so we work one-on-one with a small, select group of student athletes from the most academically rigorous schools in Los Angeles.
With our students, we focus on personal growth in the classroom and on the team, and we coach integrity, leadership, resilience and a desire to learn from each success or setback. This requires that Achieve tutors and academic mentors help our students maintain superior grades even in busy athletic seasons and work with students to develop efficient time management and life-balance skills.
If this sounds like your son or daughter, call now to see how we can help.
Organization, time management, keeping track of due dates and making sure that you have all the materials you need when you need them is what a standard study skills curriculum tries to encourage by force of will. It is kind of a like a diet in which you list all of the things you know are not good for you and then try not to eat them.
At Achieve we look at study skills a little differently. We believe that in the rush to improve grades and memorize material for grades, entrance exams and standardized tests, parents and students can neglect nurturing the creative and analytical instincts that fuel the most vital part of studying: intellectual curiosity. Our tutors encourage the student’s curiosity and passions matching that eagerness to learn with the school curriculum, finding the intersection where interests and class assignments converge.
Whether it’s using an AP Physics lesson to explain why a curveball curves or using Shakespeare’s Henry IV to strengthen a paper for European History, a student finds that learning changes from being the burden of memorizing irrelevant facts and dates to a narrative that makes sense in understanding the world around.
Our academic tutors can help you excel in virtually any high school subject. Here is just a sample:
Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalc, AP Statistics, AP Calculus…
AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP Computer Science…
Grammar, Essay Writing, AP Literature, AP Language…
AP History, AP Economics, AP Human Geography, AP Art History…
…and more
We also offer championship level SAT and ACT prep as well as expert coaching for crafting winning college applications.
If you need help in virtually anything school related, we are here for you, every step of the way.
Our students have attended Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Penn, USC, Berkeley, Amherst, Williams, Georgetown, Dartmouth, Brown, Wesleyan, and many more.
We thrive on becoming part of our clients’ families, growing and learning alongside our students, and sharing in their successes and challenges. Building these strong relationships is the core of our business.
We are grateful to the families who support Achieve Tutorials and continue to refer us to family and friends long after their kids have gone off to college. We’ve been making sure that kids get the best chance at their dream college for 30 years.
All Achieve tutors share the same approach: clear teaching, strong relationships, and lasting progress.
Master Tutors are exceptional subject specialists with at least five years of teaching experience. They are outstanding at explaining concepts clearly, diagnosing what a student is missing, and rebuilding skills in a way that actually sticks. Just as important, they take the time to understand how a student learns, so sessions feel supportive and productive rather than stressful.
A good fit for families who want high-level, steady help in one subject and real progress that carries forward.
Elite Tutors are ideal when a student’s needs don’t fit neatly into one subject. They’re selected for breadth, versatility, and the ability to quickly see what’s driving a student’s struggles beneath the surface, whether it shows up in math, writing, organization, or confidence. Instead of treating each class like a separate problem, Elite Tutors help students build a connected set of skills and routines that improves performance across the week, not just in one hour.
This level is especially valuable for students who need consistency and momentum. Elite Tutors tend to be strong long-term partners for families: they communicate clearly, adjust the plan as school demands change, and help students develop habits that make the workload feel more manageable over time.
A good fit for multi-subject support, ongoing weekly coaching, and students with layered goals.
Founder’s Circle Tutors are rare, high-demand professional educators with unusually deep expertise across multiple areas, often backed by advanced degrees and extensive high-level teaching experience. This level is for families who want the most seasoned, nuanced instruction, especially when the stakes are higher or the material is more advanced. Founder’s Circle Tutors are excellent at simplifying complex ideas without dumbing them down, and at helping students develop the kind of thinking and confidence that shows up in demanding classes and challenging tests.
They’re also a strong fit when a student’s situation isn’t straightforward (multiple subjects, uneven foundations, high pressure, or a goal that requires both precision and judgment). Families choose Founder’s Circle when they want a tutor who can quickly understand the full picture, prioritize what matters most, and guide the student through the work with calm, expert clarity.
A good fit for high-stakes goals, advanced students, or situations where you want the most experienced level of teaching and insight.
The Founder level is reserved for Pete Edwards, who built Achieve Tutorials and personally vets and trains the team. Pete works directly with students who need the highest level of expertise and judgment, or with families who want a clear, thoughtful plan for what to do next. His approach is relationship-driven and student-specific: he focuses on understanding what’s really getting in the way, turning confusion into clarity, and bringing out a student’s best in a way that feels motivating, not pressuring.
Families often choose this level when they want founder-level guidance from the start, when the situation is especially complex, or when the stakes are unusually high. Pete can work directly with a student, or help a family think through goals, timelines, course choices, test strategy, and the kind of support that will be most effective. The common thread is that the student ends up with a smarter path forward and a calmer, more confident experience getting there.
A good fit for the toughest cases, the highest stakes, or families who want founder-level guidance and direction from day one.
Every level is relationship-first: we teach, we adapt, and we stay with you as goals evolve.
